Terms of Use

The terms that apply when you download, use or buy a licence for Excel Link Rescue. They are kept proportionate to what this is: a small Windows utility.

1. About these terms

Excel Link Rescue is operated by Ante Tomić, in Split, Croatia, referred to below as "we" and "us".

These terms apply when you download Excel Link Rescue, use it, or buy a licence for it. If you do not accept them, do not use the software.

2. What Excel Link Rescue does

Excel Link Rescue is a Windows desktop application that reads Excel .xlsx and .xlsm workbooks, lists the external references they contain, and can write a repaired copy in which chosen link sources point at different files.

Scanning a workbook and previewing a repair are free. Creating the repaired copy requires a licence.

3. Your licence

Excel Link Rescue Personal is a one-time purchase of $39. There is no subscription and nothing recurring to cancel.

Buying it grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the software for your own work, whether that is personal work or work you do for an employer or clients. A Personal licence can be activated on up to two computers at a time, and you can remove it from a computer at any time inside the application, which frees the activation for another one.

The licence key is yours to keep and use. It is not yours to publish, share, resell or distribute.

4. What you may not do

  • Resell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the software or a licence key.
  • Share a licence key publicly or with people outside your own use of the software.
  • Work around, disable or tamper with licence checks.
  • Remove or alter copyright or ownership notices.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except to the extent that law gives you a right to do so that cannot be excluded by agreement.

5. Ownership

We own the software and everything in it. Buying a licence buys the right to use it under these terms, not ownership of it. Your workbooks and their contents remain entirely yours, and we make no claim over any file you open, scan or repair.

6. Your files are your responsibility

Excel Link Rescue is built so that the workbook you scan is opened read only and is not modified, and a repair is written to a new file. After writing, the new file is checked against the plan, and a repair that fails its checks is discarded rather than given to you.

That is how the software is designed to behave, and it is not a substitute for your own backups. Keep a backup of any workbook that matters to you, as you would with any tool. You are responsible for choosing the right replacement files, for checking that the repaired copy is correct before you rely on it, and for the consequences of using it.

7. What the software does not do

Excel Link Rescue repairs external workbook references in formulas, defined names, chart references, hyperlinks and the workbook's own link entries.

Some things that reference outside files are reported so you know they are there, but are not modified: DDE links, linked OLE objects, Power Query sources, PivotTable sources and data connections. Paths written inside VBA code belong to the VBA project rather than the workbook's links, and are not modified either.

The software works with .xlsx and .xlsm files on Windows. It does not support .xlsb or other formats, and it does not break or remove links. Where a repair cannot be shown to be safe, it is refused rather than attempted.

8. Updates and future versions

The licence covers the version purchased and updates we make available for that version. Future major versions may be offered separately.

We may release updates that fix problems or improve the software, and we may change, withdraw or replace features.

9. Buying a licence

Purchases are processed through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as Merchant of Record for the transaction. Checkout, payment and invoicing happen on their systems, and applicable transaction taxes and VAT are handled by them. Payment and card details do not pass through the Excel Link Rescue application or this website, and we never receive or store them.

Your purchase is therefore also subject to Lemon Squeezy's terms. The price shown at checkout is what applies.

10. Refunds

If Excel Link Rescue is not what you needed, you can ask for a refund within 30 days of your purchase. You do not have to demonstrate a fault to qualify. Write to support@excellinkrescue.com, and the refund is processed through Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record.

This is something we offer voluntarily. It sits alongside whatever rights your own law gives you as a consumer, and it does not replace, limit or waive any of them.

11. No warranty

The software is provided as it is. We do not promise that it is free of defects, that it will find or repair every external reference in every workbook, that it will suit a particular purpose, or that it will run without interruption.

If you are a consumer, this section does not take away the rights your own law gives you. Statutory guarantees about goods and digital content, including the right to a remedy where what you bought is faulty or not as described, apply regardless of anything written here.

12. Limits on liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or business, or for loss or corruption of data, to the extent the law allows that to be excluded.

Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your licence.

Nothing here excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any liability under mandatory consumer law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by this section.

13. Ending the licence

You can stop using the software at any time and remove the licence from your computers.

We may end your licence if it is used in a way these terms forbid, such as sharing or reselling a key. If we do, we will tell you why. Ending a licence does not by itself affect any refund you are entitled to.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version published here is the one that applies, and the date below tells you which version you are reading. Changes are not applied retrospectively to a purchase already made.

These terms were published on September 19, 2026.
